Pieta, Michaelangelo, Renaissance, sculpture, St. Peter's Basilica, masterpiece, Michaelangelo Buonarroti

The Pieta

A life-size replica of Michaelangelo Buonarroti's Pieta stands in an outside grotto at Rosa Mystica.

The original masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture is displayed at St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City.

Michaelangelo created his masterpiece from 1498 to 1499. This sculpture has long since been a powerful representation of a mother's love for her son to Catholics the world over.
